I Love Christmas

I love Christmas.  I love the snow.  I love the lights and decorations.  I love the music and the cards and the parties and the family gatherings and watching all the old favorite Christmas movies.  Most of all, I love the focus of the season—Christ.

Like all of us, I would be completely lost if not for Him.  So I am especially joyful at this time of year when we celebrate the anniversary of His birth.

In honor of Christmas, we will suspend posting the terrible stories that remind us of how broken and fallen our world is so that we all can concentrate, undistracted by ugliness, on all that we have to be grateful for, starting with the birth of our savior.  Don’t think we’ve gone away.  We haven’t and we won’t.  We will resume the Monday after Christmas.

Please continue to support our ministry throughout the rest of the year, and as we enter 2014.

Unlike many 501(c)3 organizations, our ministry deals with many ugly and disturbing issues.  We rarely have happy stories to tell.  That takes its toll on everyone involved.  While most people are as concerned as we are about the problem of child sexual abuse, there are not many people who can handle working to combat it day after day.  At the same time we are committed to growing and expanding our reach.  Ultimately, we will fail in achieving our objective unless we are able to educate a critical mass of average people, going about their day to day lives, to the point where they are able to spot predators and keep them away from our children.

We need your help and support to accomplish this goal.

As you consider your yearend contributions don’t forget to provide a financial contribution to the Truth Alliance Foundation.  While your local church should be your first priority, we hope we will be your second.

In addition to providing financial support, we also ask that you partner with us in these ways as well:

  • ·         Pray for the protection of our board, staff and volunteers; for divine guidance; and for the success of our   efforts
  • ·         If you are in the Chicago area, get a small group of friends together and host an information night on child sexual abuse and on how to spot child sexual predators.  We will provide the speaker.
  • ·         One thing we do is conduct research on child sexual predators and on networks of such predators.  Volunteer to help us do that research, giving us more time to analyze and summarize the information.
  • ·         Encourage all of your friends to “like” us on Facebook,  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Truth-Alliance-Foundation/193578780732153 and to follow my blog:  trhampson.wordpress.com

We have big things planned for 2014.  We are partnering with my friend and colleague, Dr. Judith Reisman and Liberty University to form the Liberty Center for Child Protection.  We already are working on joint projects and as soon as we raise the funding, $600,000, we will be fully operational.  We are very excited about the center.

Getting the center up and running will take up a significant portion of our time and energy, but we also are in the process of redesigning our website; preparing e-books on our summary insights about child sexual abuse (which will be available on Amazon); and producing three brief videos—an overview of the nature and scope of child sexual abuse, on how to spot child sexual predators, and one on how to set up a child protection program for your organization or church.  Many more projects are in the works as well.

I’ve been investigating incredibly disturbing issues for more than four decades.  Child sexual abuse is the worst.  Focusing so much time on such things could lead me into a deep well of depression if I believed that it was my responsibility to fix the problems.  Fortunately, I know my job is limited to addressing only the task at hand.  I leave the solutions to God.  It helps, though, knowing that there are many others out there praying for us, encouraging us and supporting us.  Thank you all for your support.  For myself and on behalf of all of us at the Truth Alliance Foundation, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and may God bless you.

Peace,

Thomas R. Hampson
